This Rockstar Glam portrait is happy and fun to look at – you can’t help smiling back at her!
It was first rendered in coloured pencils and then digitalised. I really like the mosaic effect – if you want to make someone’s brain explode, giving them this jigsaw puzzle would be a good start – 676 pieces, even I’m saying ouch!
The reference photo was taken on a busy street with a lot of background clutter. This portrait doesn’t contain any of the “objects of busy-ness” from that photo and yet the energy of that street is somehow still present.
I think what I love about creating portraits is that when you get into the zone, something inside the photo speaks out and says, “hey, this is how I want to be drawn.” Much like writers when they say the story writes itself.
